We are very "picky" about which fluxes we permit within our facilities.
To avoid quality problems from cross-mixing fluxes the solder wick cannot be heavily "pre-fluxed". By using solder wick that is unfluxed, our technicians can use our Kester 186-18 (or similar) flux along with this un-fluxed wick. No worry of mixing fluxes. This is EXTREMELY important in PCB Rework.
Mixing "water soluble" fluxes with the more traditional, established rosin/resin-based fluxes can cause "white residue" build-up and prevent quality soldering between pads and chip leads. This is only one of many reasons for our use of "un-fluxed wick" at the bench of our technicians, engineers and quality personnel.
